Rock First With Dual-Core Laptop

Rockdirect has today introduced the Xtreme 64, a desktop replacement laptop with leading-edge processor and graphics performance. Based on the same chassis as the Xtreme Ti, the Xtreme 64 features ATI's latest Mobility Radeon X800 XT Platinum Edition graphics chipset and supports AMD's new dual-core Athlon 64 X2 processor.

Combined, these two core components should deliver cutting-edge performance for advanced gamers and video editors. In addition, the laptop will be offered with Windows XP Professional x64 Edition as a free upgrade from Windows XP Professional.

The Mobility Radeon X800 XT is ATI's top-of-the-range graphics chipset. One of the fastest and most powerful GPUs, the part offers 12 pixel pipelines, higher clock speeds and improved image enhancement technology. Sporting new architecture based on the latest 0.13micron, low-k manufacturing process, the Mobility Radeon X800 is based on the newest PC architecture standard, PCI Express (PCIe), as well as super-speedy GDDR3 memory.

In addition, the Xtreme 64 supports AMD's FX55 or dual-core Athlon 64 X2 processors. The latter offers true multi-tasking and is like having two processors working together, each one taking care of different applications. So, for example, you can simultaneously burn a CD, check e-mail, edit a digital photo, and run your virus protection - all without slowing down your computer.

Nick Boardman, Managing Director of Rockdirect said: 'We have aimed to deliver a laptop that pushes the mobile PC's performance to the limit and allows the user to experience performance only previously available in bulky desktops'.

He continues: 'Rockdirect is a UK specialist manufacturer in the market of manufacturing high quality laptops. We may not be as large as Dell but this has been our business for over 14 years, and we have built great relationships with suppliers such as ATI and AMD which has enabled us to be the first to ship new technology to our customers as soon as it is released to the market'.
