TerraTec Turns VHS Tapes Into Digital Movies

Terratec’s new Grabster AV 150 lets you convert VHS tapes (remember those? - Ed!) to DVD.

Promising to be easy to use and competitively priced, the Grabster AV 150 costs just £49.99 and comes with a full version of Ulead’s DVD MovieFactory 3 for mastering your DVD movies.

Connecting the Grabster AV 150 is easy. Simply plug it into your desktop or laptop’s USB port, install the software, connect the video recorder and you are ready to go.

Files can be digitised in either MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 format and you are then free to delete annoying advertising breaks, create personalised menus and burn your customised versions to DVD.

‘High’ video quality is assured with full D1 resolution of 720x576 pixels. Other devices such as camcorders, satellite receivers and DVD players may also be connected, thus transforming your PC into a multi-functional digital video recorder for DVDs, SVCDs and VCDs.

Ulead’s DVD MovieFactory 3 offers an intuitive user interface and gives home and office users an affordable and simple solution for sharing high-quality videos on DVDs and CDs. The software also allows you to add horizontal or vertical titles in any position and frame, add background audio to the video, and import any video from DVD-RAM, DVD-RW or DVD+RW set-top recorders.

The software also allows you to simply edit the movies, add photos, create menu designs and burn a DVD disc to be played in any DVD player. The package also ships with Ulead’s VideoStudio 7SE.

PAL and NTSC video standards are supported, and there are composite (RCA) and S-Video input ports. PAL recording is supported up to 720x576 pixels at 25fps, while NTSC recording is supported up to 720x480 pixels at 29.9fps.
