ImageShack Simplifies Image Sharing

ImageShack, the company behind the ImageShack free image hosting service that makes it easy for Internet users to host and share digital images, today introduced the ImageShack Toolbar, a software package that integrates ImageShack’s easy-to-use interface within the end-user desktop.

The company also announced it has quadrupled its image serving capacity by extending its server cluster to San Jose and Los Angeles, and is now in its 10th consecutive quarter of profitability.

The ImageShack Toolbar allows users to share their digital still pictures on the Web sites of interest without having to take a separate step of uploading the pictures first. After installing the ImageShack Toolbar, users gain the ability to drag-and-drop digital still pictures from their hard drives directly into the posting fields of popular social networking sites such as MySpace, Xanga, LiveJournal.com, and infinitely many other HTML compatible portals, forums, and message boards.

The ImageShack Toolbar includes various patent pending features, such as the ability to access to ImageShack image sharing and hosting tools from any Web page, upload and share one or many images with one click, resize images to many popular image resolutions, and hare images by dragging and dropping one or many images from your local hard drive to any blog.

“The ImageShack Toolbar simplifies access to ImageShack’s best image sharing tools from any “eb page on the Internet. It’s like having ImageShack always with you no matter where you go,” said Jack Levin, ImageShack’s Executive Officer and Co-Founder and, formerly, an early Google Global Infrastructure Engineer. “Additionally, the drag and drop image sharing capability no longer forces users to juggle between browser windows.”

To accommodate its rapid user growth, ImageShack has quadrupled its storage and bandwidth capacity by expanding its point of presence to San Jose and Los Angeles.

“California is a very important region for ImageShack,” said Alexander Levin, Executive Officer, Co-Founder and brother of Jack Levin. “Seventy five percent of our users are now able to access ImageShack within 0.5 seconds or less. We will continue to invest and scale our infrastructure to provide the best image hosting and sharing experience for all of ImageShack’s loyal users.”

ImageShack’s server super-cluster is located in 6 geographically diverse areas of North America. At peak times, ImageShack serves over 100,000 concurrent user requests, making it the most popular digital content delivery platform in its market. ImageShack provides unlimited storage space and bandwidth to all of its users free of charge. ImageShack is able to provide unrestricted capacity with low cost to performance ratio by utilising the unique server cluster design based on the off-the-shelf hardware.
