Digitalway MPIO FG100 offers 3D audio output

Digitalway's latest digital audio player offers three-dimensional audio output based on Philips' technology. The old school-style player (31x28.5x82mm, 40.5g) is available with an internal storage capacity of either 128- (£99 ex. VAT), 256- (£125 ex. VAT) or 512MB (£169 ex. VAT), and offers up to 40 hours' of music playback from a single AA battery, according to the company. Audio formats supported are limited to ASF, MP3 and WMA (DRM supported) files, although you do get built-in voice recording, an integrated FM radio with recording functionality, and a 4-line OLED (Organic Light-Emitting Diode) that is used instead of a traditional LCD monitor. An OLED is an electronic device made by placing a series of organic thin films between two conductors. When electrical current is applied, a bright light is emitted. This process is called electrophosphorescence. When used to produce displays, OLED technology produces self-luminous displays that do not require backlighting. The displays also have a wide viewing angle, up to 160 degrees and require very little power: only 2-10 volts. Direct encoding to MP3 format is also supported thanks to a digital optical-in port, making the MPIO FG100 worth considering if you're after a product that's different.

Pros: 3D audio output; OLED display; excellent battery life
Cons: Relatively big and bulky; no support for photos

Release: MP3-Plus, a leading supplier of Web-enabled audio and visual technology today introduces the MPIO FG100 from Digitalway - a pocket MP3 boom box with pulsating 3D sound.

Inspired by the classic boom box design, the MPIO FG100 is jam packed with quality features, backing up its 'old school' look with the technology of today. Featuring in-built Phillips 3D sound technology, the MPIO FG100 can transform your music collection from classic rhythms into over 40 hours of booming beats using just one AA battery.

The MPIO FG100 is available in 128-, 256- and 512MB models and can support both MP3 and WMA file formats. This baby boom box also has direct encoding, which means you can record your favourite tracks straight from your stereo, allowing you to reinvent your vintage vinyl tunes as crisp, clear, pulsating sounds.

Equipped with a large 4-line LCD screen, which adjusts according to the level of sunlight, the MPIO FG100's display is always easy to read. Featuring ultra fast USB 2.0 downloading and an FM tuner and recording function that lets you listen to and record your favourite chart shows, the MPIO FG100 gives you unrestricted access to all the latest music.

'The MPIO FG100 brings back the boom box style available in the audio systems of yesterday, but delivers them with the size and technology of today' said Grant Jeffrey, MP3-Plus Founder and CEO. 'As well as producing the crisp quality sound they are renowned for, Digitalway have delivered a product with retro appeal!'
