Samsung Sports Cam Takes Video To Extremes

Samsung Electronics America has introduced the newest must-have technology for today's extreme adventurers and sporty types. The SC-X105L Sports Cam combines a weather resistant body and hands-free camera lens module in a lightweight, compact design, so it should be easy to shoot digital video or stills in relatively extreme conditions.

The SC-X105L features a durable, rubberised body that is water resistant and built to withstand harsh conditions. The pocket-size chassis and streamlined design should provide maximum portability for the modern 'on-the-go' lifestyle, allowing you to fit the camcorder into your pocket, backpacks and other athletic gear. An extra sports camera module provides hands-free shooting capability and can be mounted on a helmet or other stable surface.

The SC-X105L also sports a 10x optical zoom with a 680K Movie Optimized CCD lens. However, it also allows you to capture digital stills up to just 800x600 pixels, which is a little disappointing.

'Samsung understands that today's consumers lead adventurous lives and many dream of capturing every second possible on video,' says Claude Frank, Director of Digital Audio/Video Products, Samsung Electronics America. 'We developed the SC-X105L as the first of its kind camera that can satisfy this need and record every thrill or special moment whether in rugged or normal conditions.'

You also get a 2in. colour LCD screen (200K) for video playback and still image viewing, an image stabiliser function that should compensate for slight shaking movements, as well as 512MB of built-in memory supplemented by a Memory Stick slot.
