Canon Presents Three New Projectors

Canon has introduced three new LCD multimedia projectors - LV-7245 ($2499), LV-7240 ($1999), and LV-X5 ($1399). It's also launched the RE-455X Visualizer. All four products are designed to meet the needs and budgets of a wide range of professionals in education, business, government, law, medicine and many other sectors.

The projectors are designed primarily for conference rooms, classrooms and other locations requiring a relatively bright XGA (1024x768 pixels) image display. The projectors incorporate a rounded, modern design and a generous array of features. The RE-455X Visualizer offers XGA-resolution image capture for everything from print documents to 3D objects.

The LV-7245, LV-7240 and LV-X5 projector provide 2500 ANSI lumens, 2100 ANSI lumens, and 1500 ANSI lumens brightness, respectively. They can also connect to Canon's digital camcorders and digital cameras. All three models have a short throw distance capable of projecting a 100in. image from 9.8ft. away - an essential feature for use in small rooms.

All the new models have a 400:1 contrast ratio. Each projector comes with a 1.2X zoom lens that is adjustable using a slider control atop the projector housing. Additional controls include an array of top-mounted input buttons with LEDs that allow you to switch between laptops or video sources (each model can be connected to two laptops simultaneously).

Other key features include Wall Color Correction to help ensure colours are displayed accurately even when a projection screen is not available. Seven different adjustments (blackboard, light yellow, light green, light blue, sky blue, light rose, and pink) should help match the surface, whether it's a classroom blackboard, the wall of a conference room, or an office partition. Furthermore, Automatic Keystone Adjustment corrects the image up to +/-30 degrees vertically for those instances when the projector is not centred.

Quiet Mode reduces the projectors' fan noise to 30dB for the LV-7245 and LV-7240, and 28dB for the LV-X5. The Long-Life Lamp feature can provide up to 3000 hours of operation for the models LV-7245 and LV-7240 and 4000 hours for the LV-X5, says Canon.

Designed as a companion product to projector, Canon's new RE-455X Visualizer is an XGA resolution document camera built to meet the needs of schools, universities, courtrooms, or any other environment requiring image capture of paper-based documents or 3D objects.

Key features of the RE-455X Visualizer include One-Shot Autofocus, which focuses the lens with one touch of a button. It also sports a 12x Power Zoom Lens with Superior Canon Optics, adjustable twin fluorescent lamps for uniform lighting, front-panel controls, auto and manual exposure and white balance, and a White Paper mode to optimise the quality of text documents.
