IMSI TurboCAD Makes Its Way To The Mac

IMSI's flagship CAD product, TurboCAD, has made its way to Mac OS X. The new version of TurboCAD apparently includes over 250 design and drafting tools with tips and customisable keyboard shortcuts, all intended to bring more efficiency to the design process.

TurboCAD contains a range of dimensioning tools and snaps, plus it has the capability to import fifteen and export eleven different CAD and graphics formats. 'Mac OS X is ideally suited for CAD applications and we're very excited to bring TurboCAD back to the Mac platform to take advantage of the new features in Tiger,' said Bob Mayer, EVP of Precision Design, IMSI.

'Thanks to the speed and flexibility of Tiger's new Spotlight technology, you can quickly search the extensive TurboCAD symbol library using relevant keywords to easily identify candidate parts.'

TurboCAD also includes a Layer Manager and Symbol Palette, allowing drag-and-drop access to over 8000 symbols and parts including electrical, mechanical, bathroom, kitchen, construction, LAN, CMOS, doors, windows, counters, fasteners, HVAC components, and more.

TurboCAD for the Macintosh even gets a conversion tool which automatically allows you to create precise 2D wireframe and hidden line drawings from imported 3D components or assembly drawings, including AutoCAD DXF and DWG files. With this tool, you should be able to quickly create 'production-ready' drawings and additional auxiliary, detail, and section views.

TurboCAD offers compatibility with both the CAD and Graphic Designer communities. TurboCAD supports import of the follow file formats: DXF, DWG, ACIS SAT, Adobe Illustrator, BMP, CATIA v4, Grid Surface, IGES, PICT, ProE, Rhino 3DM, Spline, STEP, Tex, Truespace COB. TurboCAD exports to the following file formats DXF, DWG, ACIS SAT, Adobe Illustrator, CATIA v4, CGM, EPS, IGES, PICT, STEP, and Text.
