NEC PlasmaSync 42VP4

NEC plans to livens up home viewing with the brightest plasma screen on the market. The PlasmaSync 42VP4 is a 42in. model and will be available in both grey and a silver finish. The screen features a narrow bezel that yields a screen depth of just 89mm.

Designed for home entertainment equipment, such as VCR and DVD players, the 28.5kg PlasmaSync can also be connected to video games consoles for 16:9 gaming. Sound output can be achieved either through the optional detachable speakers, or by linking the screen into an existing audio system. A wide viewing angle of 160 degrees should provide good image quality from most angles.

The PlasmaSync 42VP4 uses new 12-bit video sampling, which can resolve 4,096 steps of colour or greyscale. NEC claims this technology significantly reduces picture noise in dark scenes and ensures the best possible viewing quality for movies, sports or gaming.

Progressive scanning also helps to minimise flicker to provide sharper image detail. The PlasmaSync 42VP4 is also the first plasma screen on the market to enable users to fine-tune individual colours within the display.

Some of the optional extras for mounting include a Wall Mount Unit (PX-W2U), Tilt Unit (PX-T2U), Vertical Wall Mount Unit (PX-42VP1U-VW), Multi-screen Mount Unit (PX-42VP1U-MW), Ceiling Mount Unit (PX-C2U) and Pole Unit (PX-42M3U-P). There’s also range of speakers options too, as well as a cable tidy.

“Today’s home viewers are increasingly discerning, and many will settle for nothing less than the best in audio and visual quality,” said Simeon Joseph, business development manager Plasma Display Solutions, NEC UK. “The PlasmaSync 42VP4 delivers the ultimate viewing experience, whilst making a stylish addition to any home.”
