Ricoh Intros New Colour Lasers

Ricoh has today added to its range of colour business printers. The Aficio CL7200 (£4199 ex. VAT) and CL7300 (£5249 ex. VAT) have been developed around Ricoh's colour print engine and promise to deliver low running cost along with relatively high speed output speeds of 32ppm for black-and-white and 28ppm for colour. The latter model also offers automatic duplexing as standard.

Delivering up to 35ppm A4 in full colour at up to 1200dpi, these units could represent a cost saving alternative to outsourcing print jobs. From newsletters to direct mailings and presentations, both units are designed to be ideal for daily office print work. However, there is no copy, scan or fax functionality built in.

The CL7200 is a relatively low maintenance solution for general office needs, promising high quality prints at low cost per print. The CL7300 meets the more advanced needs of creative businesses and communications departments with higher speeds and standard duplexing. Wireless LAN connectivity is an optional extra on both models.

Both printers (670x678x745mm, 85kg) can handle media up to A3+ in size and come with two finishing options: Booklet maker and hole puncher. Designed for workgroups of 5 to 24 users, the models have an input capacity of 500 sheets (3100 sheets maximum) and output capacity of 500 face-down sheets. Paper weights supported range from 60 to 105gsm, including plain paper, recycled paper, envelopes, laser printer labels, and transparencies.

Eddie Hall, product manager at Ricoh, concludes: 'Feedback from our customers indicates a growing demand for high quality, low cost in-house colour production. Customers are also looking for faster output speeds without compromising on quality. As always, this feedback has been incorporated straight back into Ricoh's R&D cycle to ensure that our product development delivers exactly what our customers are demanding.'
