LG 50-inch Wireless Plasma Display

LG Electronics' 50-inch Plasma Display Panel (50PB2DW) incorporates wireless technology to eliminate all cords to the panel (other than a power cable). Hallelujah!

With a separate transmitter unit that you can plug any external source to, such as your DVD player or Xbox 360, the display should also provide crisp pictures from any connected source wirelessly. This unit will be on display at the 2006 CES in Las Vegas on January 5th to 8th.

We love the idea of a wireless screen just because of the paradigm change in TV use. These flat screens just beg to be stuck on a wall or sit on a mantlepiece. Wireless power would be nice, but the real problem is multiple cords for all the inputs running up the wall.

The one cable idea that some boxes like Sharp's Aquos have had for a while is really neat, but all the inputs still have to sit in a rack somewhere - beaming the picture to the TV is even better.

Underscoring its growing US brand presence and reputation for innovation, LG Electronics has already been recognised for its commitment to design and technical excellence by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) and the 2006 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) with 11 prestigious 'CES 2006 Innovations' awards.

This year, the unique, new 50-inch Wireless Plasma HDTV Display (50PB2DW) received top honors with a 'Best of Innovations' award in the Digital Display category. The company also received 10 'Innovations 2006 Design and Engineering Showcase' awards. With a total of 44 awards over the past three years, the company has won accolades across multiple categories, including Digital Display, Mobile Communications, Home Theater, Audio Components, Video Components and Home Appliance.
