Canon has added three new models to its Laser Shot laser printer range. The three models comprise the Laser Shot LBP3300 (£229), Laser Shot 5000 (£249) and Laser Shot LBP3460 (£779).
A new addition to the monochrome Laser Shot line-up the Laser Shot LBP3300 features built-in duplex printing as standard, and relatively high speed printing at 21ppm with a first print out in less than 9 seconds. The LBP3300 is also relatively compact and is available with an optional Canon brand network board.
The printer increases the Laser Shot range, and does not replace any outgoing product. It sits above the Laser Shot LBP3200 as the flagship in Canons range of monochrome host-based single function printers. To aid the small and home office in reducing paper consumption and cut down on overheads, the LBP3300 comes with built-in duplex as standard. Prints are generated at 2400x600dpi equivalent.
CAPT utilises high speed processing in combination with effective compression technology to ensure rapid output, and features a user-friendly graphical interface. In association with On Demand Fixing the LBP3300 requires no warm-up time and generates a first print in less than 9 seconds, according to Canon. The LBP3300 network board (NB-C1) is the first Canon-brand network board for host-based printers, and is an optional feature of the printer, making the device ideal for offices with multiple users connected to a network. The LBP3300 is equipped with USB 2.0 High Speed connectivity as standard.
To accommodate offices with a large printing output, the LBP3300 features a maximum paper capacity of 500 sheets, when coupled with the optional 250 sheet paper cassette. To further increase efficiency, two yield cartridges are available - the 708 cartridge at 2500 page yield, and the larger 708H cartridge at 6000 pages. Both cartridges are All-in-One, for full front operation and easy maintenance. All-in-One cartridges contain the printers essential parts, meaning that replacement ensures that the printer is almost as new.
Next up, the Laser Shot LBP5000 is a colour printer that features Canon Europes first All-in-One colour cartridge, as well as a space saving, smart vertical design. With an optional Canon-brand network board and a maximum capacity of 500 sheets the Laser Shot LBP5000 is pitched at small offices and professional users. Positioned just below the LBP5200, the printers Colour CAPT utilises high speed processing in combination with efficient compression technology to ensure rapid output, claims Canon. CAPT also features a user-friendly graphical interface. Colour On Demand Fixing means the LBP5000 requires no warm-up time and generates a first print in less than 20 seconds, mono and colour.
The vertical engine of the LBP5000 (the smallest device in the colour laser line-up) means that the compact printer can be easily placed anywhere in the small or home office. The printers vertical construction further enhances printer maintenance and ease of use. The four cartridges - containing Yellow, Cyan, Magenta or Black toner and drums - are easily accessible from the front of the device. The LBP5000s optional Network Board NB-C1 is the first Canon-brand network board for host-based printers. The Canon-brand network board makes the LBP5000 a perfect fit in small offices where there are multiple users connected simultaneously.
The LBP5000 caters to offices with large colour printing output. The printer features a maximum paper capacity of 500 sheets, when coupled with the 250 sheet optional paper cassette. The LBP5000 generates colour and mono prints at around 8ppm.
Finally, the Laser Shot LBP3460 is a PCL-enabled monochrome Single Function Printer (SFP). Succeeding the Laser Shot LBP2000, the LBP3460 supports PCL5e and PCL6, and UFR II - Canons own PDL technology - bringing the advantages of the imageRUNNER series to the Laser Shot family. Featuring built in networking and built-in duplex printing as standard, the printer claims 33ppm and has a maximum paper capacity of 850 sheets. With PCL and networking features, the LBP3460 may be ideal for larger home offices or the corporate environment.
Other key features include a maximum paper capacity of 850 sheets with optional 500 sheet paper cassette, on-demand fixing, and choice of two print yield All-in-One cartridges. Extended driver functionality is availability for Mac OS 10.2.8 or above (English only) and Linux.
Prints are generated with 2400x600dpi equivalent quality, with Automatic Image Refinement (AIR). In association with On Demand Fixing the LBP3460 requires no warm-up time and generates a first print in 8 seconds (approximate). Built-in networking is standard and allows the printer to connect directly to your wired network from any PC. Canon network software NSDI, NSC and Remote UI are supported. The printer is also equipped with USB 2.0 High Speed connectivity.
To help reduce paper consumption and cut down on overheads, the LBP3460 comes with built-in duplex as standard. As standard, the LBP3460 features a 250 sheet paper feeder and 100 sheet multi-purpose tray. To increase efficiency, two yield cartridges are available - the 710 cartridge at 6000 page yield, and the larger 710H cartridge at 12000 pages.
