Iternet i-Blue Bluetooth GPS Receiver

Iternet’s i-Blue PS-3200 (£59.69/$105) is a high performance Bluetooth Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver based on new generation v3.7 Nemerix chipset. The new chipset promises improved performance and enhanced power saving features.

The i-Blue PS-3200 is a Bluetooth GPS receiver that has one unique feature that sets it apart from the competition. It is equipped with a technology that it enables it to determine if a bluetooth device such as a PDA or Laptop is present and active and if there isn’t one it automatically falls to sleep mode increasing battery life.

In addition, the patented Smart Power Save and Auto On/Off technology claims 30 hours battery life on single charge. i-Blue takes advantage of the Bluetooth wireless technology to offer hassle free installation on a Bluetooth-enabled PDA, laptop and even smartphone. And the compact, lightweight design could make it a perfect travel companion.

When you use i-Blue for the first time, you only need to power up and place the receiver under the windshield in your car. Anytime when a paired PDA or laptop computer with Bluetooth connectivity is onboard, i-Blue should wake up on Bluetooth and for your navigating usage. When Bluetooth signal is not present, i-Blue will go into sleeping mode automatically (slow blinking blue LED).

The i-Blue Bluetooth GPS receiver is capable of tracking 16 satellites simultaneously. The cold start time is 46s on average and tracking is better than -152dBm. According to the company, the i-Blue consumes 65 per cent less power than other wireless GPS receivers, and can extend the operating time to more than 30 hours.

The device comes with Destinator software, a full-featured GPS navigation system. Unlike GPS mapping systems that simply display your location, Destinator tells you where you are, and details how to reach your destination via the most direct route.

Destinator utilises the GPS network of satellites to accurately determine your current position. To guide you, Destinator uses the same NAVTEQ map data that has become the industry leader for location-based services and navigation around the world.

And best of all, with Destinator you do not need to pay any additional charges or fees. Using your Pocket PC’s ActiveSync program you can also load vast geographical areas from a CD-ROM to a storage card or device.
