ViewSonic Introduces Three New Projectors

With the PJ406D, PJ458D and PJ656, ViewSonic has added two new DLP projectors plus one model based on LCD technology. Each is designed to deliver presentations in business environments or thrilling large-format home-cinema viewing.

The three models have relatively high contrast and brightness levels, with luminosity ranging from 1900 to 2100 ANSI lumens. The 4:3 aspect ratio can be simply switched to 16:9, allowing the latest blockbusters to be viewed in their original format without annoying black stripes at the top and bottom.

And weighing in at between 2- and 3kg, all three projectors can be transported easily. Another neat design feature is that due to their compact construction, even the largest of the three models merely has a footprint that is approximately the size of an A4-page.

In terms of specifications, the DLP-based PJ406D offers a brightness of 1900 ANSI lumens, 2000:1 contrast ratio, and native resolution of 800x600 (SVGA). The DLP-based PJ458D has a brightness of 2000 ANSI lumens, 2000:1 contrast ratio, and native resolution of 1024x768 (XGA), while the LCD-based PJ656 offers a brightness of 2100 ANSI lumens, 400:1 contrast ratio, and native resolution of 1024x768 (XGA).

To give presentations a dynamic boost, multiple data sources may be connected concurrently. Thanks to the zoom function, the projectors are suitable for use in numerous types of rooms, with vertical Keystone correction ensuring depictions remain free of distortion.

All new models can process a range of video and data signals, including HDTV. When switched to Eco Mode lamp life is extended to 3000 hours, or even 4000 hours on the PJ656. That’s enough for around 2000 or 2600 feature films of average length, respectively. The Eco Mode also ensures these models’ operating noise is kept pleasantly low at 30- to 33dB.

The three new projectors may also ideal for novices and users that are not technically inclined. Each model comes with a soft carrying bag, remote control (PJ656 with mouse control function), Wizard CD-ROM plus an A/V cable connection set. The suggested retail prices are £550 (PJ406D), £899 (PJ458D) and £950 (PJ656). The new models are available now from selected dealers and e-tailers.
