Genesis Gets Gadget Girls Into The Pink

In a bid to encourage gadget girls to give more, breast cancer prevention charity, The Genesis Appeal, has commissioned a custom-made pink laptop.

Women now spend an average of £634 a year on gadgets and technology (bah, is that all! - Ed?), and give less than half that amount to charity - £280 a year (erm, moving on... - Ed!).

This laptop/gadget is not only the ideal gift for the woman who has everything, but also offers hope by raising money for the UK’s first, purpose-built Breast Cancer Prevention Centre.

Every time a special edition pink Ergo Ensis S laptop is purchased, 10 per cent of the total order cost (exclusive of VAT) will be donated to The Genesis Appeal - the only breast cancer charity solely dedicated to the prevention of the disease.

The pink laptop was the brainchild of Lisa Barnes, Ergo’s Corporate Account Manager. Lisa said: 'black and silver sucks We’re delighted to be involved with The Genesis Appeal. The pink laptops are a brilliant way to raise funds to facilitate the build of the Breast Cancer Prevention Centre as well as give the gadget girl generation a real treat.’

Lester Barr, Chairman of The Genesis Appeal, said ‘The pink laptop is a great idea and we’re really grateful to Ergo for teaming up with Genesis in this way. Not only do the computers look good, they’re also a very practical way to help build a future without breast cancer.’

The laptops, built to order to a decent specification in the UK, are available via the Genesis Web site at www.genesisuk.org/genesisLaptop.php and cost £675.

The Breast Cancer Prevention Centre, sited at Manchester’s Wythenshawe Hospital, will spearhead pioneering new research into early diagnosis of the condition and house an education unit for breast cancer specialists, as well as a state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment centre.

For your money you get the latest Intel Celeron M 360 processor (1MB L2 cache, 1.40GHz, 400MHz FSB), 256MB RAM memory, Windows XP Home Edition, 15-inch screen, PCI Express integrated graphics chip, 3-in-1 media card reader, DVD/CD-RW combo drive, trackpad, four USB ports, and TV-out port.

The 2.8kg machine also includes a 40GB hard disk drive built-in modem, audio in/out ports, 802.11 b/g wireless adapter, and soft carry case. You also get a 1-year collect and return warranty.
