Samsung, one of the world’s coolest technology companies, continues its fine tradition of providing top-notch, high quality displays with the addition of the SyncMaster 204B to its family of large-screen (not widescreen) LCD monitors.

Targeted for business and home users alike, the monitor features Samsung’s proprietary ‘magic’ set of technologies that work to produce an ultra realistic picture with rich, natural colours, claims the company. The SyncMaster 204B is currently available at retail locations and through Samsung’s distribution channel for $629 (£361).

The SyncMaster 204B utilises Samsung’s MagicTune technology that enables you to have full control over all display features with extensive colour adjustment capability with just a click of the mouse. Completed with no additional cable or interface, all MagicTune communication is completed through the video cable.

Based upon the best front of screen performance for the optimal personalised viewing experience, MagicTune also allows you to save the various display profiles for whatever environment or mode you choose.

The SyncMaster 204B combines Samsung’s MagicColor and MagicBright technologies to make sure the onscreen picture is more realistic and rich with colour. MagicColor enhances colour automatically for areas that need colour correction.

MagicColor improves colour through three modes: Intelligent Mode, which enhances colour quality except specific colours whose changes are easily recognised; Full Mode, which is a full colour enhancement that includes skin tone colour; and Demo Mode, which displays the improved image on the left and the original image on the right.

The monitor also utilises Samsung’s MagicBright technology. This allows you to change the brightness and contrast of the display to adjust for various applications with the simple push of one button. MagicBright offers settings for text computing, viewing video on the Internet and for entertainment applications such as gaming, video streaming or even viewing DVDs on your display through your computer or video interface.

Samsung’s latest large-screen LCD monitor delivers a maximum 16.7 million colours, an 800:1 contrast ratio and a brightness of 300cd/m2. With its 1600x1200-pixel native resolution, ultra-fine pixel pitch of 0.255mm and a horizontal/vertical viewing angle of 160-degrees, the display should deliver crisp clean text and bright, vivid colours.

Incorporating Samsung’s MagicSpeed technology, the SyncMaster 204B features a fast 5ms response time, making the monitor perfect for users who use multimedia-driven applications, gaming, animation or viewing video via the Internet. MagicSpeed technology offers an improved response time that significantly reduces the ghosting and ensures better performance of motion video producing smooth edges, clearer images and a more natural image response.

Available in either sliver or black cabinet colours, the SyncMaster 204B utilises both analogue and digital interfaces and features a four-way adjustable stand that offers pivot ability, height adjustment, tilt and swivel capabilities for ergonomic functionality. With its narrow bezel design and removable base, it is also ideal for a crowded office or for the home user wanting to maximise space. The display features a built-in power supply for added space saving and is VESA wall mount compatible.

To ensure reliability and performance, Samsung backs the SyncMaster 204B with a 3-year, parts and labour warranty, including the backlight as well as toll-free technical support 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
