Ulead DVD MovieFactory 5

DVD MovieFactory 5 is Ulead’s first consumer disc authoring software to support High-Definition (HD) video discs.

The consumer DVD authoring package promises easy disc authoring, an expanded range of creative options and future-ready support for both HD DVD and Blu-ray disc formats.

‘We are very excited to advance MovieFactory into the high-definition age. With support for both HD disc formats, DVD MovieFactory 5 offers users the best video experience no matter the standard they choose.

'DVD MovieFactory 5 allows users to burn discs with professional-style menus that will play back their HD video content in its full original resolution,' said Mark Wurdemann, European Marketing Manager.

‘Yet even for consumers who have not yet invested in HD devices, DVD MovieFactory 5’s terrific interface and compelling creative features make it the best choice for anyone who wants to create expressive video and slideshow discs quickly.’

Some of the key benefits of the software include the ability to capture video from any source, including DV or HDV camcorders, DVB-T digital broadcasts, or VCRs. DVD MovieFactory offers a Video Editing Toolbox to then trim and enhance the video, add titles, and select background music.

DVD MovieFactory’s Multi-trim editor now features responsive AccuCut scrubbing controls that allow you to zoom in to the frame-level to make precise cuts for removing unwanted footage.

For those who want to capture their favorite TV shows and burn them to disc, DVD MovieFactory now includes Ad-Zapper, a feature that scans video and automatically detects commercials. You can then easily remove the ads, for an uninterrupted viewing experience.

When laying out menus for HD or standard DVDs, you now have a new arsenal of creative tools. SmartScene menus feature a large preview window that changes content when the viewer rolls over a text item. Motion filters bring still-image backgrounds to life. Text and objects can be freely rotated, resized and repositioned.

Unique to consumer authoring software, DVD MovieFactory now offers Menu Transitions. These enable visual transitions between menus and titles. Commonly seen in commercial DVDs, menu transitions have previously only been possible with professional authoring packages.

Digital cameras and camera phones continue to be hot sellers, and one of the best ways to share photos is with a digital slideshow on disc. DVD MovieFactory 5 lets you arrange and enhance your photos, apply smooth transitions and add a soundtrack before burning to CD or DVD.

For quick burning projects, DVD MovieFactory features an intuitive Quick-Drop desktop utility, which lets you burn video, photos, music or data onto any disc format, including high-capacity HD discs.

DVD MovieFactory 5 will be available in PC World stores, WH Smith, Amazon, Dabs, SaverSoftware, and other online stores starting mid March 2005 at a price of £29.99. Those with DVD MovieFactory versions 3 and 4 can upgrade for £19.99.
