ADS Tech Showcases Video-To-Go Devices

ADS Tech will be exhibiting and demonstrating two new additions to its Video-To-Go family of products at this year’s CeBIT Technology Exhibition in Hannover Germany, the recently launched DVD Xpress DX2 and the soon-to-be-launched Mini Dual TV USB.

Both products are part of ADS Tech’s focus on the TV and video capture market. With the increased popularity and affordability of portable video players such as a Sony’s PSP, Apple’s iPod or Creative Technology’s new Zen Vision:M, people are increasingly gathering content to view on such devices while on the move.

The DVD Xpress DX2 claims to be the easiest and fastest way to create PSP and iPod video is a DivX-certified USB 2.0 external audio/video capture device that makes it quick and easy to convert analogue videos to a digital format. With support for all of the leading video formats, DVD Xpress DX2 can be used to create high-quality videos that can be viewed on a TV with a home DVD player or enjoyed on the road with portable video players.

ADS Tech’s plug-and-play device connects to a PC USB port to transfer video and audio signals from any analogue source such as VHS tapes, analogue camcorders, set-top boxes or VCRs using the RCA (Composite) or S-VHS video inputs. The signals are automatically converted into MPEG-1 or MPEG-2, MPEG-4 and DivX digital video files that can be archived directly to disc or stored on a PC's hard drive for editing.

The soon-to-launch Mini Dual TV USB brings the world of digital and analogue TV and radio programming and recording to your PC and laptop, helping you to never miss your favourite show or a live goal again, thanks to the ability to Rewind, Pause or Fast Forward live digital TV.

Complete with personal video recorder (PVR) features, the Mini Dual TV turns your computer into a digital entertainment centre allowing you to watch and record TV, listen to your digital music, archive your photos and much more.

With its hybrid TV tuner, ADS Tech Mini DualTV lets you receive DVBT programs and enjoy crisp video and crystal clear sound from digital TV programs of DVD quality as well as analogue TV broadcast wherever your location, thanks to its Silicon TV tuner that is compatible with the world-wide analogue TV broadcast standard: PAL, NTSC and SECAM.

By bundling ADS Tech’s hardware with its new Media TV PVR digital home theatre software, you can watch and record TV broadcasts, view photos and photo slideshows, and burn video on disc in the VCD or DVD format.

With Media TV PVR’s time-shifting features, you can rewind, fast-forward, pause live TV and continue from the time of the interruption. The software features a simplified user interface that is easy to use and navigate, claims the company. The 10-foot UI is designed to look good on large computer monitors or even on TV screens from up to 10 feet away.

ADS Tech’s Mini Dual TV USB will be available in March in the UK and Europe, with an estimated RRP of £99. It includes ADS Tech’s own Media TV PVR, USB 2.0 Extension cable, Passive antenna, Antenna Adapter Cable and remote control.

The Instant DVD Xpress DX2 will also be available in the UK and Europe in March with an RRP of £99.99. A complete hardware/software solution, the USB 2.0 audio/video capture solution is compatible with Microsoft, 2000 and XP (Home and Professional) systems. The external device comes with audio/video and USB cables, CD-ROM containing ADS Tech’s Capture Wizard, Ulead’s VideoStudio 9 SE DVD and a user guide.
