Buffalo Amplified A&G Networking Solutions

Wireless networking has become more and more commonplace over the past 12 months and, with the flood of multimedia products that offer wireless capabilities, we’re all demanding high-bandwidth, high-speed networking at our fingertips.

Buffalo Technology has launched the first A&G networking solutions to its portfolio of wireless LAN devices for SMEs, SOHOs and consumers.

The AirStation Wireless A&G High Power Smart Router (WHR-HP-AG108) and AirStation Wireless A&G High Power USB Adapter (WLI-U2-AG108HP) allow you to stream multimedia content further and faster over two non-interfering wireless standards simultaneously.

These new wireless devices allow SMEs, SOHOs and consumers to take advantage of two wireless networking standards; firstly, 802.11b/g for basic networking such as e-mail and internet browsing and, secondly, 802.11a for heavy file transfers and real-time applications that require data transfer without interruption.

Such dual band operation also benefits the SME/SOHO audience, where visitors can connect to the 802.11b/g network without interfering with 802.11a network on which the company chooses to run.

The products are designed to reduce dead spots and offer increased throughput speeds that are up to twice as fast as standard 802.11g or 802.11a/g products, on account of the built-in signal amplifier. The new router produces increased wireless transmit power of up to 60 per cent over standard 802.11a or 802.11g routers and extends the range of standard 802.11g wireless client devices by up to 70 per cent, boosting overall performance by up to 50 per cent, claims the company.

Using the Atheros Super AG chipset, Buffalo’s new wireless solutions allow users to take advantage of dual-band technology. The products benefit from channel-bonding technology, which significantly improves wireless performance on both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands.

You can experience data rates of up to 108Mbit/s and throughput rates of up to 60Mbit/s, claims Buffalo. The products also include a high power amplifier to improve performance at increased ranges or in multi-room/multi-floor structures or more densely built buildings.

The products also feature Buffalo’s patent-pending AOSS (One-Touch Secure System) technology, which allows one-touch wireless security installation. All of Buffalo’s wireless LAN solutions include advanced security features such as WPA-PSK with AES support, which gives the products the ability to support WPA2. Additional security features include 128/64-bit WEP, Dynamic Packet Filtering and NAT, Intrusion Detector, and SPI Firewall.

Backed by a limited two-year warranty, the AirStationT Wireless A&G High Power Smart Router and the AirStation Wireless A&G High Power USB Adapter will be available in early April at estimated street prices of £54.99 and £38.99, respectively. Suppliers include eBuyer, Dabs, More Computers, Insight, PC World Business, Misco, broadbandbuyer.co.uk, broadbandstuff.co.uk and NickKnows.com.
