Samsung keeps pushing smaller and smaller PCs. Last month it announced the ultra- thin 14.1-inch X11 laptop. Then, at Cebit, Samsung was among the first vendors in the world to produce an UMPC.
Now the Korean vendor has released what it calls the worlds smallest dual-core laptop. The Samsung Q35 is a 12.1-inch ultraportable which weights only 1.89kg and measures just 299x214x27mm.
Samsung will offer lots of configurations of this laptop. For instance, these include an Intel Core Processor Duo T2300 (1.66GHz) to T2700 (2.33GHz) or Intel Core Processor Solo T1300 (1.66GHz) to T1400 (1.73GHz). Standard memory will be 256MB (512MB from May), upgradeable to 1.2GB.
Theres only once choice of screen (12.1-inch WXGA) and graphics chipset (Intel 945GM Express with 128MB of VRAM), but you can opt for a 60-, 80-, 100-, or 120GB hard disk drive.
Other features include a Super Multi/Combo optical drive, 10/100 LAN, Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG (802.11a/b/g, Mini card type), Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, two USB 2.0 ports, 4-pin FireWire, Type II PC Card, RJ11, RJ45, headphone-out, mic-in, and memory card reader (Memory Stick, MS Pro, SD, MMC, High Speed MMC, XD).
Samsung claim a battery life up to 7 hours. The system will cost from £915.
