Users now expect more from their desktop printer: higher volumes, crisper output and faster speeds. Kyoceras latest printer offering comes in the form of a 22ppm mono laser with a cost-per-print (CPP) of just 0.74p.
The 22ppm laser printer, with its small footprint and standard duplex unit may be ideal for the individual power user and is also available with a network connection for workgroup use. Having said that, theres no mention of 802.11x.
The FS-1030D is the successor to Kyoceras FS-1020D printer, and as such it should offer the same reliability and quality benefits. It uses ECOSYS long life technology which minimises user intervention as the only consumable is toner, and ensures that the FS-1030D has the lowest lifetime costs of any comparable product, claims the company.
Its time to first page of just 10 seconds makes it ideal for ad hoc printing, while its maximum monthly duty cycle of 20000 pages and 250-sheet output tray ensure it is robust enough to support relatively high volume print jobs.
The FS-1030D has a standard memory of 32MB, with a maximum memory of 288MB, and a 266MHz processor so it should be able to manage relatively complex documents. The printer delivers output at 600dpi and this can be enhanced to 1200dpi if required. It is equipped as standard with a 250-sheet paper cassette and this capacity can be expanded by the addition of a further 250-sheet paper feeder.
The FS-1030D has USB 2.0 and parallel connectivity as standard and is also available with an Ethernet network connection (the FS-1030DN). It is available through Kyocera Mita channel partners and has an RRP of £199.
