Averatec has announced its largest form factor laptop to date with the introduction of the 17-inch widescreen 7100 Series.

Powered by AMD’s Turion 64 mobile technology, the 7100 Series promises an outstanding digital entertainment experience coupled with high-performance processing designed to handle today’s demanding business applications.

With its sleek black styling, trim 1-inch profile and weighing in at an industry-light 3.2kg, the 7100 Series features a super-bright 17-inch WXGA widescreen display with AveraBrite technology.

The 7100 Series offers advanced power management tools and the latest wireless technologies to keep users easily connected at home or while travelling. With an integrated Gigabit wired network, which is up to 10 times faster than standard 100Mbit/s Ethernet, the model provides the fastest network connection available today.

A full-featured laptop, the 7100 Series offers a standard full-size keyboard with a separate full-size numeric keypad, memory expandable to 2GB, 80 or 100GB hard disk drive, built-in dual-layer DVD/CD burner and an integrated 5-in-1 media card reader that supports xD, MS, MS PRO, MMC and SD memory card formats. Connectivity comes in the way of FireWire and three high-speed USB 2.0 ports.

Offered with either Microsoft’s Windows XP Home, Professional or Media Center Edition pre-installed, the 7100 Series is also Windows Vista compatible. Providing you with ‘complete’ online protection, Averatec 7100 Series laptops come fully loaded with a trial version of ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite 6.0.

In addition, the laptop includes Phoenix FirstWare Recover software and a trial version of the Recover Pro software, a recovery solution that stores data, applications and the operating system in the secured host-protected area (HPA) of the hard disk drive.

The laptop is available at retailers including Staples, Circuit City, OfficeMax, Sam’s Club, AAFES, Fred Meyer, FutureShop (Canada) and MicroCenter. The 7100 Series is also available through Averatec’s distribution partners, D&H, Ingram Micro and Tech Data.

The 7100 Series is offered at an estimated street price starting at $849 (£477) to $1199 (£674), depending on configuration, and is backed by a 1-year limited warranty (six months for the battery) and one-year, toll-free technical support available 24/7.
