The market for music-enabled mobile phones is growing rapidly. According to Strategy Analytics, sales of music-enabled handsets will jump from $48 million in 2004 to $886 million in 2009.
In North America alone, music-enabled handsets will account for 94.7 per cent of total handset sales by 2009 (January 2006).
Increasingly, consumers want devices that are simple, versatile and can keep up with their busy lives. Plantronics has introduced the MX203S stereo mobile headset for MP3-enabled mobile phones.
Designed with WindSmart technology for active users, such as runners and walking commuters, the MX203S provides a single headset to take calls and listen to stereo music.
Plantronics also unveiled two additional corded headsets, the MX200 and MX250, to provide mobile users a variety of options for talking on mobile phones.
The MX203S features Plantronics Flex Grip under-the-ear design for a secure, comfortable fit while walking or running. The headset also incorporates WindSmart technology for clear conversations in outdoor, windy environments. Users listening to music with the MX203S hear a ring when a call comes in and simply touch a button on the headset to answer/end.
The MX200 headset combines a single earpiece design with WindSmart to offer mobile users a discreet, simple solution. The MX250 headset promises excellent audio, with a newly styled boom and noise-cancelling microphone. Both of the headsets feature Flex Grip and under-the-ear styles.
The MX203S has an estimated street price of $29.99 (£16.99) and will be available this month in major retail stores. The MX200 and MX250 have estimated street prices of $19.95 (£11.17) and US $24.95 (£13.95), respectively. Both products will also be available this month in retails stores and the Plantronics Web site.
