The ScanSnap! is Fujitsus smallest desktop scanner to date. The companys also claiming its the smallest colour scanner currently on the market that allows you to convert paper documents of up to A4 in size into Adobes Portable Document Format (PDF) files.
Fujitsus ScanSnap! is designed for small offices and comes with a full version of Adobes Acrobat 5.0 software for saving documents in PDF format. The scanners software automatically recognises whether documents are black and white or colour, and deletes unwanted blank pages. Fujitsu claims this will reduce batch preparation time and help keep file sizes to a minimum. PDF files can be generated as documents pass through the scanners automatic 50-page feeder (ADF).
The scanner converts double-sided paper documents into digital images at a rate of up to 15 documents a minute, according to Fujitsu. Its relatively small size means you can also take it with you on business trips to use with your laptop, if necessary.
The ScanSnap! is suited to offices that require a small footprint scanning solution capable of converting paper-based documents into digital ones. Its not particularly well suited to those companies that require a high-resolution scanner for capturing colour photographs or complicated illustrations.
