Sharp's New Flagship HD DLP Projector

Home theatre buffs and high-end multimedia companies may find themselves in a dilemma when it comes to showcasing their high-definition movies.

With picture quality and clarity to allegedly rival the ‘big screen’, the XV-Z21000 offers a native resolution of 1920x1080 pixels and a stunning contrast ratio of 12,000:1, at a maximum brightness of 1000 ANSI lumens.

For the first time on a Sharp projector, this model has been equipped with a dual iris system with three-step aperture settings. The ideal ratio between brightness and contrast settings can be adjusted by expanding or reducing the aperture via the remote, providing ultimate control of picture quality and personal viewing preferences by the viewer.

Contrast ratio is usually calculated by measuring the greatest value between bright and dark scenes. However, Sharp’s native contrast ratio is measured for each individual scene frame. The XV-Z21000 therefore maintains a stable overall contrast ratio of 12,000:1 regardless of scene light level.

For flicker-free, brilliant pictures with natural colours, the XV-Z21000 incorporates a high quality, three primary colour wheel comprising seven segments, working at 6x speed, combined with a 0.95-inch DLP chip from Texas Instruments. The integrated Colour Management System permits you to adjust the colours of the picture precisely to accommodate your individual preferences.

Connectivity is perfectly suited for High Definition pictures. With two HDMI interfaces, DVI-I connector and an analogue component input, the XV-Z21000 allows simultaneous connection of numerous HD sources, which can be displayed in 1080p, 1080i or 720p. Further analogue interfaces have been included, such as S-Video, for displaying PAL/SECAM or NTSC signals. The projector also includes a trigger terminal for integrating to an electric motorised screen when the power is turned on and off.

For optimum image projection when the unit is ceiling-mounted or when not easily accessible, the XV-Z21000 incorporates a clever vertical lens shift function, affording the best viewing position every time. For additional flexibility, the XV-Z21000’s 1.35x optical zoom lens achieves a 100 inch (diagonal) projection image, from a distance of just 4.1m.

Furthermore, thanks to the projector’s DLP technology, the entire optical system of the XV-Z21000 is sealed against dust and smoke, ensuring a longer service life and reducing maintenance costs. For additional peace of mind, the projection lamp guarantees long-lasting cinema enjoyment of up to 3000 hours in low power mode.

The Sharp XV-Z21000 is available now from specialist AV resellers.
