Clearswift Upgrades E-Mail Security Appliance

Clearswift is continuing its drive to simplify content security by launching today a new version of its e-mail security appliance which boasts a new reputation service enabling even tighter control over spam.

Using the new TRUSTmanager, the MIMEsweeper Email Appliance 2.5 can now check the ‘reputation’ of all connecting SMTP hosts against a constantly updated database of reputation scores provided by Clearswift.

The host is then evaluated for previous spam related activities and awarded a ‘reputation score’. The TRUSTmanager score can be adjusted to trigger at differing levels to suit the needs of individual organisations.

“Every company has to contend with the considerable administrative issues created by spam,” Clearswift’s CEO, Jon Lee, said. “We are delighted the capabilities of TRUSTmanager, combined with the double filter of Clearswift’s SpamLogic and Mail Filters’ spam detection software will provide a virtually insurmountable barrier to spammers.”

The appliance will also include a new SpamLogic image filtering to kill all image based spam, in addition to an improved ThreatLab service for finer grain control.

MIMEsweeper Email Appliance 2.5 offers a range of other new features, which include multi-box message management and tracking capabilities, enabling message queues, areas and tracking to be managed across all peer appliances as if they were one appliance.

“Clearswift’s goal is to simplify content security without compromising on enterprise-class protection,” said Mr Lee. “The enhancements to the award-winning MIMEsweeper Email Appliance demonstrate Clearswift’s commitment to providing businesses with outstanding IT security while simultaneously making e-mail security as simple and manageable as possible for IT administrators.”

Clearswift’s Email Appliance is simple to install, configure and manage, making it the industry’s only truly ‘plug and play’ e-mail security appliance, claims the company. Not only does it stop threats from entering the corporate network, it also filters outbound content to stop company intellectual property leaving an organisation.

The MIMEsweeper Email Appliance delivers ease of use with a 30 minute setup that, unlike competitive offerings, does not require assistance from on-site engineers. The appliance has a unique ‘out of the box’ policies approach that allows users to be up and running as soon as the box is installed and delivers the most comprehensive e-mail security appliance on the market.

MIMEsweeper EMAIL Appliance is complete e-mail security in a box. Incorporating anti-virus by Kaspersky, Clearswift SpamLogic anti-spam and intelligent MIMEsweeper content filtering it blocks all incoming and outgoing e-mail threats, requires no specialist knowledge to install and is easy to use. Simply plug in, switch on and relax.

Prices for the appliance start at around £5498 (ex. VAT) for 500 users.
