Trust's 360 USB 2.0 SpaceC@m is a relatively low-cost Web camera that offers a maximum resolution of 640x480 pixels (VGA) using a CMOS sensor. Designed primarily for basic video conferencing using popular Instant Messaging applications, such as MSN Messenger and Yahoo! YIM, the Web camera comes equipped with a shutter button, USB cable, stand and video-editing software (ArcSoft's PhotoImpression 3.0 and VideoImpression 1.6), which allow you to record full-screen uncompressed video at up to 30fps. Supported by systems running Windows 98SE, ME, 2000 and XP, the 360 USB 2.0 SpaceC@m also includes manual focus, automatic white balance and gain control, as well as a green LED that indicates whether the device is operational. Of course, for a low asking price of just £34.03, you can forget about a zoom lens, PC-independent functionality, an integrated 802.11b wireless antenna or support for Voice-over-IP.
Pros: Price; manual focus; automatic white balance and gain control
Cons: No zoom lens; can't work independently of a PC
Release: A futuristic design and a fast USB 2.0 connection make the Trust 360 USB 2.0 SpaceC@m an ideal Web camera, which is perfect for chatting via the popular program MSN Messenger. The user can also use this Web camera to record full-screen, real-time images for creating videos and DVDs. Video images can be easily edited to create a film using the software supplied with the Web camera. The USB 2.0 connection ensures optimal performance without image delay and is 40 times faster than models with the more common USB 1.1 connection.
This Web camera has a very sensitive CMOS optical image sensor, an automatic white balance setting and gain control, as well as a manually adjustable focus for the optimal image quality of videos and photographs. Still images can be taken using the snapshot button, which can then be sent immediately in digital format. The LED on top of the Web camera shows the status (on/off) of the Web camera.
The Trust 360 USB 2.0 SpaceC@m comes supplied with a stand, a CD-ROM containing drivers and software, a multi-language instruction manual and a Quick Installation Guide. The Web camera will be available from the middle of March.
