Toshiba adds Napster to new laptops

Napster UK, Ltd. a subsidiary of Napster, Inc. (Nasdaq: NAPS) has announced that 5 new Toshiba notebook PC models now come preloaded with the award-winning Napster digital music service. Toshiba’s Satellite Pro L10, Satellite P30, and Qosmio F10 multimedia notebooks now feature pre-loaded Napster client software that gives users instant access to over 1 million tracks via the distinctive Napster “cat head” desktop icon. Anyone buying one of the featured Toshiba notebooks can also take advantage of an introductory free 30 day trial to the Napster subscription music service, confirmed in March as the UK’s Best Digital Music Service by trade publication Music Week.

Napster subscribers enjoy unlimited full length streaming from the world’s biggest digital music catalogue, as well as over 35 interactive, advert-free radio stations, four decades of Official UK Chart information and a host of community features for just £9.95 a month. Toshiba customers can also use their new notebooks to access Napster To Go, the world’s first portable subscription music service that lets music fans fill and refill any compatible MP3 player with their choice of tracks from Napster for just £14.95 a month.

“Our latest laptops are designed as complete multimedia centres with superior sound systems that makes them ideal for running highly developed, feature-rich applications like Napster,” said Steve Crawley, Head of Product Marketing, Toshiba Computer Systems Division “We chose to bundle Napster on the new Satellite and Qosmio systems because it is the most innovative and advanced digital music service in the world and it also works seamlessly with Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition.”

“Our partnership with Toshiba is an ideal way to introduce new members to the Napster experience,” said Darren Wallace, business development director, Napster. “Simply by switching on their notebooks for the first time, Toshiba customers can now immerse themselves in the world’s music library within seconds. Mobility and flexibility are two key demands for music consumers and running Napster on these powerful new laptop systems allows Toshiba customers to effectively carry over a million tracks around with them and then play whatever they choose, wherever they choose, via their stereo output speakers, living room hi fi or MP3 player.”

About Napster Napster, the world’s biggest brand in digital music, is a subscription service that enables fans to access the world’s largest and most diverse online collection of music and experience the largest number of features.
