ALESTRA PICKS CRAMER AS OSS CENTERPIECE |
|
Enterprise OSS software leader Cramer today announced its Cramer5 solution has been selected by Alestra to serve as the centerpiece of the Mexican operator's Network Management and Integrated Services Platform. Alestra, owned in part by AT&T, is one of Mexico's leading competitive telecom operators, offering voice and data services on a network that spans 200 cities throughout the country.
Alestra delivers long distance, local, broadband, and value-added services to business and residential customers through a 5800 kilometer fiber optic network that includes 5 fiber crossings into the U.S. and 30 points-of-presence across Mexico. The heterogeneous network - comprised of equipment from vendors including AT&T, Lucent, and Cisco - can support current and next generation service offerings, from voice over IP (VoIP) to virtual private networks (IP/VPNs) to managed services.
Cramer will allow Alestra to achieve its objective of providing a broad array of high-quality, customized service bundles at competitive prices. Cramer5 is a flexible, scalable platform that will enable Alestra to cut operating and service provisioning costs and to automate the design, planning, and delivery of next generation network technologies and services.
"We know that to successfully compete in the Mexican marketplace, we need a state-of-the-art OSS to complement our state-of-the-art network," said Rogelio Ancira, Alestra's Systems Director. "We conducted an extensive assessment of commercially-available solutions. We chose Cramer because it offers the superior technology and proven performance we need to meet our current and future business, technical, and operational requirements."
With its rich functionality and open architecture for integration, Cramer5 will become the focal point of an existing back office environment that includes Siebel (customer relationship management), Micromuse (fault management), and MetaSolv (activation).
Cramer VP Kelly Connery added, "The time, cost, and quality of service challenges presented by next generation networks and services are significant. Telecom operators such as Alestra understand that enterprise OSS solutions are a key ingredient to addressing these challenges. Only Cramer provides the visibility, flexibility, and scalability to turn the enterprise OSS promise into a reality."
