MapInfo Predictive Analytics launches UK's first workplace population datasets |
|
MapInfo Corporation (Nasdaq: MAPS), the leading global provider of location intelligence solutions, today announces the launch of Workplace DESTINATIONS, the first dataset to identify and categorise areas in the UK according to workplace population.
Providing a new and valuable analysis tool MapInfo Workplace DESTINATIONS gives an unprecedented insight into the location and concentration of the UK's workplace population, covering over 6,000 individual workplace hubs in the UK. This new dataset offers information relating to the geography of the workplace area, a score based on the estimated number of employees, size of businesses, the social grade profiles of workers within the destination and a breakdown by percentage of workers employed in each activity.
Post Office Ltd is an early adopter of Workplace DESTINATIONS, and has already reported significant benefits: "Understanding demand for our products from our customers' place of work is an essential element in setting the sales strategy for our branch network," said Stuart Hayes, Head of Network & Location Planning, Royal Mail Group Centre.
"Workplace DESTINATIONS provides us with the necessary insight into which types of people work in which locations and this information plays a vital part in helping us to understand what drives sales and branch performance."
MapInfo Workplace DESTINATIONS has a variety of uses in helping product and location planners to understand how the workplace location and main business activities influence consumer behaviour in purchasing products and services.
This unique dataset has valuable applications for convenience and grocery retailers, B2B services and the hospitality industry. It offers a significant advantage in planning the locations and staff numbers of outlets whilst offering a useful tool in product optimisation and streamlining store operations. B2B businesses can use it to profile a workplace location by the types of businesses for targeting products, and the hospitality industry would find it an invaluable tool for planning facilities such as hotels, conference facilities and restaurants, reliant on daytime business traffic.
"As the first to market with this unparalleled analytical tool, we are delighted with the interest already registered by many of the UK's leading businesses," says Andy Thompson, Director of Analytical Services, MapInfo EMEA.
"The Post Office is already reaping significant rewards from its deployment earlier this year and we expect many retail and hospitality businesses to recognise the vital competitive edge this unique dataset offers."
Workplace DESTINATIONS is due to be shipped in June 2006 and can be used as a data input for analytical work in conjunction with a number of MapInfo products, including: Retail DESTINATIONS, Retail REACH, Traffic Counts, Census Data, businesses lists for marketing and sales activities and analytical and predictive modelling services.
