TALLYGENICOM AWARDED CONTRACT TO PROVIDE PRINTER SERVICE TO ASDA BY IBM UK

TallyGenicom, a leading provider of focussed business printers, today announced that it has been awarded the contract to support line matrix and serial matrix printers at all ASDA stores across the United Kingdom by ASDA’s service provider, IBM UK. TallyGenicom will manage the overall service from implementation to operational delivery and will also provide full onsite support.

TallyGenicom won the contract over major competition from national independent organisations. Under the agreement, TallyGenicom will work with IBM to deliver onsite support to up to 1,000 printers.

“I am delighted that IBM has recognised the quality of our service and support by awarding this contract to TallyGenicom,” said TallyGenicom’s Customer Service Manager, Nick Allen. “We will be providing ASDA with industry leading standards of service, fast response to end user calls and continuous improvement in standards of service provided.”

ASDA will be utilising TallyGenicom’s 6312WM line matrix printers and 2340/9 dot matrix printers. The 6312 line matrix printer is capable of printing 1,200 lines per minute and delivers a staggering 345,000 pages per month. The 6312 offers first class performance of 1200 lines per minute. Both 60 and 250 million character ‘stay-black’ ribbons are available for extremely low cost of ownership. These ribbons guarantee superb print quality, due to the consistent supply of ink that ensures output is consistent over the ribbon’s life.

The 2340/9 dot matrix printer can print up to 350 pages per hour and offers both 9 and 24pin emulations for adjustable print quality and output. Unlike traditional dot matrix printers, which are noisy in operation and unwieldy, TallyGenicom’s printers have been designed to be quieter and also have a smaller footprint.

“Knowing the variable nature of ASDA’s business, TallyGenicom and IBM wanted to ensure that all of its line and matrix printer needs were met,” said TallyGenicom’s Vice President of World Wide Marketing, Robin Edwardes. “TallyGenicom service ensures that quality and productivity of output remains high. I am delighted that IBM has chosen TallyGenicom to provide support for ASDA’s printers and we will ensure that ASDA will realise the benefits of our printer services for years to come.”
