Version One Strikes Gold in International Environmental Awards

Version One, author of ‘paperless office’ software, has been honoured with a gold award in the science, technology and aerospace category of this year’s International Green Apple Environmental Awards. This achievement comes just weeks after the launch of Version One’s Carbon Neutral Initiative, which is the first such initiative in the world by a software author.

The Green Apple Environmental Awards, run by The Green Organisation, recognise global environmental best practice and are now established as one of the biggest environmental award schemes worldwide.

Leading environmental campaigner, Professor David Bellamy, presented Version One with its gold award during a prestigious ceremony at The Tower of London. Tony Bray, Director of Version One, says, “We are thrilled that yet again the environmental benefits of our paperless office technology have been recognised by the Green Apple Award judges. Customers that use our software dramatically cut their company-wide paper consumption and CO₂ emissions through the reduced printing, postage and storage of documents such as invoices, statements and purchase orders.”

Bray continues, “As climate change is now such a major issue, more and more organisations need to take steps to reduce their negative impact on the environment. As well as implementing the right paperless office technologies, companies need to actively offset and reduce their carbon emissions. Version One is fully committed to this challenge and with the launch of our Carbon Neutral Initiative, we’re proud to be planting trees throughout the UK and implementing green measures across the company.”
