Jeyo Mobile Extender For Outlook 2.0

Jeyo's Mobile Extender 2.0 is one of the most useful Outlook add-ons we've ever come across. In fact, it's probably one best mobile applications we've ever used. Simple to use and almost transparent in its execution, Mobile Extender 2.0 really does help to integrate mobile text messaging on your computer. Overall this is a superb way to backup your SMS and is a must if you want to send SMSs via your Windows-based PC.

Pros: Small footprint; easy to use; supports Unicode text
Cons: Runs on Windows software only; text charges still apply

Mobile Extender 2.0 adds mobile text messaging capabilities to any Windows-based computer running Outlook (version 2002 or later) using a Smartphone running Windows Mobile (version 2002 or later) or a Pocket PC phone running Windows Mobile 2002 Phone Edition (or later).

With this low-cost add-on, you can exchange messages with other mobile phone users anywhere around the world directly from Outlook using ActiveSync. Simply keep your phone or PDA connected to your computer and Mobile Extender does the rest. Text messaging is made as simple and easy as e-mail.

The software's biggest strength is the way it integrates with Outlook. By using an application interface you're already familiar with, Mobile Extender 2.0 provides a new set of menu options to send, receive, manage and archive your mobile text messages, eliminating the need to mess around with fiddly phone keys when you're at your desk.

You can also compose and view messages written in a language that your phone does not support, as you use Outlook to both compose and read text messages. Basically, your mobile phone simply becomes a message 'server' to Outlook - once hooked up to your computer you can forget about it!

New text messages can be composed in Outlook at any time. Messages created when your mobile phone is not connected are then sent automatically as soon as it is reconnected. Using your PC also makes text input easy, and the software takes the appropriate actions if your messages are too long. For instance, you can create text messages longer than 160 characters. You can also forward notes as text messages.

In addition, you have a few options when replying and forwarding. For example, you can select text messages from multiple senders and reply to them at once. This is very handy when you are having a group dialogue. As another example, you can forward a text message to an e-mail user or an e-mail to a mobile phone user.

When using with Outlook 2003, Mobile Extender 2.0 fully supports Unicode text. You can create or view text messages in any language, regardless of whether your mobile phone has that language. For example, you can send someone a text message and receive an reply in Japanese, even though your phone only supports English. These Chinese messages will be displayed correctly in Outlook. Furthermore, you can use more than one language in a text message.

You can manage text messages both in your Outlook application and on your mobile phone. So, for instance, in Outlook you can copy or move messages between folders, delete messages, create new backup folders, and so on. You can also remotely view messages on your phone, copy messages between it and Outlook, or empty its message folders.

Text messages downloaded to Outlook are stored in an Outlook data file on your PC. These messages are saved automatically until you decide to delete them from the Outlook SMS folder.
