In todays fast moving Internet age, where knowledge is power and youre just not hip unless youve got a least three shiny gadgets about your person at any one time, we increasingly seek new technology which will allow us to receive more of the information we want, when we want it, in a format that suits our busy 24/7 lifestyles. Its also fun, too!
BIOS has introduced Podcasts (basically just an MP3 audio file) that enable us to share our content in this new and exciting format, giving you a more portable and convenient way of carrying and digesting some our news pieces and tidbits. With a Podcast, you can listen to it on your computer or move it to your mobile phone, iPod or digital MP3 player and listen to it at your leisure, such as travelling to work or exercising.
First and foremost a Podcast is an MP3 file and all you need to play it is an MP3 player. There are multiple 100s of millions of MP3 players out there - they are called computers. With the help of free software such as iTunes or Quicktime or Windows Media Player, you are already able to listen to a Podcast. You only need an iPod or other mobile MP3 player if you want to listen to a Podcast while you are working out, driving to work or taking the dog for a walk....
Todays Podcast is a general discussion between BIOS editor Christian Harris and resident über-networking meister Brett James, aka Mr B, about the complexity of choosing an ISP. Boy, what a minefield!
