HP has added to its range of iPAQ PDAs with the new hw6900 smartphone, which adds Wi-Fi, Windows Mobile 5.0 and a faster processor to the companys previous hw6515 offering.
Similar in design to the iPAQ hw6515, with its 3-inch 240x240-pixel TFT screen (expect problems as most Pocket PC software is designed for 320x240-pixel screens) and integrated keyboard, the iPAQ hw6900 is a little heavier but more powerful.
In particular, the iPAQ hw6515s 312MHz Intel processor has been improved to 416MHz and theres now built-in Wi-Fi - along with Bluetooth 1.2 and quad-band GSM/EDGE for networking.
And, of course, you also get Microsofts latest mobile operating system, Windows Mobile 5.0, with the Messaging and Security Feature Pack, which enables push e-mail with Microsoft Exchange 2003 SP2 servers. Theres also integrated GPS and a built-in 1.3-Megapixel digital camera.
E-mail connectivity comes via Microsofts Pocket Outlook and Good Technologys GoodLink, both of which will work over the EDGE modem at faster-than-dialup speeds and over the built-in Wi-Fi, as well.
Other features include a single mini-SD slot, 45MB of available storage memory (the older model had 55MB), speakerphone, keyboard and the battery will last for 4 hours of talk time, with up to 7 days standby time.
