Selwyn 8-Way Dual-Core Opteron Server

Selwyn Electronics has announced the launch of the IWILL H8502, a powerful 8-way/16-core Dual-Core AMD Opteron processor-based server - the first of its kind in the UK.

The IWILL server platform H8502 offers the power of up to eight AMD Opteron processors in the 5U rack-optimised design.

Designed to meet the performance and reliability requirements of a broad range of enterprise and technical computing applications, the H8502 should satisfy the growing demand for faster database transactions and memory consuming high performance computing needs.

The H8502 enables a high-performance solution easy for installation and maintenance. It features up to 128GB of ECC Registered DDR memory in 32 SDRAM DIMM slots and 6.4GB/s peak memory bandwidth, dual PCI Express x16 slots (both with x16 signal), one PCI Express x4 and five PCI-X 64-bit 133/100/66MHz slots, Adaptec 7902W Ultra 320 SCSI controller with 320MB/s SCSI data transfer rates.

The H8502 is installed with two redundant fan modules and three easy-swap system fans for eight dual-core CPUs, 1350W N+1 redundant power supplies, six hot-swap SCSI RAID drives as well as advanced IPMI 2.0 management utility. The IWILL server platform H8502 should therefore provide non-stop operations for mission critical applications.

Peter Cooke, Managing Director of Selwyn Electronics said: ‘The IWILL H8502 offers the highest performance in X86 server history. There is nothing like it in the UK. Its highly scalable architecture and industry-leading performance helps minimise the integration and operation complexities presented by business environments. It is suited to a range of global enterprises, small-medium businesses, government and education establishments.’
