Google has released an upgrade to its toolbar for Mozillas Firefox browser, including enhancements to the search box and an anti-phishing feature.
Google Toolbar 2 for Firefox now offers suggestions to narrow down search queries and correct spelling. The search box also saves your previous query terms and bookmarks, and offers them up as suggestions. A drop-down menu furthermore lets you choose to run a search on different Google search sites.
The Firefox toolbar now comes integrated with what is called the Safe Browsing extension which was so far an optional add-on. This feature alerts you when it considers a Web page could be a phishing trap.
All major search engine operators offer toolbars that, when downloaded, become part of browsers such as Firefox and Microsofts Internet Explorer. Through their toolbars, companies such as Google, Microsoft, and Yahoo promote use of their respective search engines, because you can enter queries into the toolbars search box without having to visit a search engines Web site.
Because of the competitive edge a toolbar gives search engines, Google and its rivals are constantly trying to improve their toolbars and out-do each other in this space. Google Toolbar 2 for Firefox can be downloaded .
