Winnersh, Berkshire - 28 April 2006 - Advanced Digital Information Corporation (NASDAQ: ADIC), the leader in Intelligent Storage solutions for the open systems market, announced today the introduction of the latest version of its StorNext FX data management software.
StorNext FX enables greater consolidation of workflow processes in Apple environments, helping users save time and increase productivity by allowing them to share their Xsan storage area networks and Xserve RAID systems with applications running on Linux, Windows, and UNIX platforms. The StorNext FX version 1.3 announced today offers compatibility with the recently released Xsan 1.3.
The combination of StorNext FX and Xsan lets users finish projects faster by allowing them to share files between Mac OS X systems and all major Linux, Windows, and UNIX platforms, as well as save money by consolidating disk storage resources.
With StorNext FX, users save time by eliminating time-consuming network file transfers, and they simplify their infrastructure by eliminating the need to manage separate storage volumes, file copies, and SANs for each host. The outcome is improved workflow and productivity, increased storage efficiency, and more effective data access.
Apples Xsan is expanding the benefits of SANs to a wide range of data-intensive industries, including digital media post-production, imaging, scientific modeling, broadcast, and web-based content delivery, said Ewan Johnston, EMEA director of software, ADIC. In these settings, StorNext FX shortens timelines and improves user productivity by letting Xsan environments support applications that require other, non-Mac OS platforms. It also provides users with an easily implemented path to automated migration of data across different storage tiers using ADICs iMover technology.
StorNext FX solves an important problem for those of us who leverage diverse IT environments, said Ramy Katrib, CEO of DigitalFilm Tree, the Los Angeles production/post company that has pioneered the use of digital workflow technology for television and motion picture with credits that include Scrubs, Cold Mountain, and Napoleon Dynamite.
We need to provide best-of-breed solutions to deliver the highest quality service, but we also need high performance shared workflow to meet the schedule demands of our clients. StorNext FX gives us the best of both worlds by letting us share files on our Apple system at Fibre Channel speed with applications that are only available on Linux, or Windows, or SGI IRIX platforms.
The StorNext FX 1.3 release for Xsan 1.3 provides support for Microsoft Windows, Red Hat and Novell SUSE Linux, SGI IRIX, Sun Solaris, HP-UX, IBM AIX and Cray UNICOS/mp. StorNext FX is available now through ADIC and ADICs worldwide network of partners, including national reseller CDW, and distributors Ingram-Micro and Tech Data. StorNext FX will also be available soon through Apple Store.
