PowerQuest has today announced V2i Protector 2.0 Small Business Edition, the latest edition of its hard disk-based backup and disaster recovery solution for servers running Microsoft's Windows NT, 2000, 2003 and Small Business Server. The software is designed to provide small to medium-size businesses with an easy-to-use and relatively affordable solution to automate the process of backing up system and data files.
The software works by creating compressed backup images of a server's volumes, including the operating system, server settings and preferences, which can be used to restore system and data volumes, or individual files and folders. PowerQuest claims this can be done in minutes, as opposed to the hours it can take using traditional backup methods. Backup images can be saved directly to any network storage device, such as a RAID array, NAS or SAN, and you can also mount backup image files as read-only network or workstation drives that can be shared with other network users or groups.
PowerQuest's V2i Protector 2.0 Small Business Edition is available from today in English, French, German and Japanese versions. It costs £445 (ex. VAT) per server.
