CRITICAL NETWORK MONITORING MADE EASIER FOLLOWING RELEASE OF MUTINY VERSION 3.5 |
|
In their constant bid to offer both corporate and public sector organisations the very best in computer network monitoring product and service, Mutiny Ltd http://www.mutiny.com have announced the release of their new Mutiny Version 3.5 Critical Services Monitor.
Mutiny is a pre-configured hardware appliance that monitors network traffic and hardware (switches, servers, routers, etc), as well as the process and applications that are running, i.e. Exchange, IIS, SQL, etc.
It is the only SNMP-based Critical Network Monitoring appliance on the market, designed with ease-of-use as the most important feature.
The new Mutiny 3.5 Version now enables real-time monitoring of network interfaces on SNMP enabled devices. This provides an instant snapshot of the network bandwidth utilisation as well as non-intrusive monitoring of the interface status and any errors.
In common with other Mutiny monitored properties such as CPU load, memory usage and disk space, it is now possible to set critical and warning thresholds against interface utilisation so that Mutiny can send alerts (emails and SMS messages) when exceptionally high network traffic and errors are observed.
Dr Andy Murray, Technical Director at Mutiny, said: This is the most important release of the Mutiny Critical Services Monitor since its launch in 2002.
Its always a struggle for our development team to add new features whilst still maintaining the ease-of-use and user-friendly interface that has become our main selling point and trademark, but I think they have done a fantastic job!
On the reporting side, Mutiny now uses a Round-Robin databases for the storage of historical data. These provide high speed access for the enhanced on board graphing tools. The new database also provides the framework for the add-on Mutiny Reporting Appliance that will be launched later in the year.
Mutinys event management system has been completely re-written to allow much greater control over the sending of alerts coupled with enhanced TES (Transient Event Suppression) to minimise the sending of false alarms.
SMS alerting has also been improved by the support of USB-connected GPRS modems which can send SMS messages directly over the mobile network. In addition, the use of external email to SMS relay is also possible.
Our existing customers who have seen the new version are pleasantly surprised to find that no additional training is required, as the same design templates have been used throughout.
People new to the product have also been pleased to see how easy it all is to set up and configure, and many have been amazed that useful data is obtained within a few minutes of connecting the appliance to their network, adds Andy.
Concludes Andy: All in all, Mutiny has taken a major step forward whilst still adhering to the firm principles we laid down when the product was conceived.
