Ricoh Extends Colour Laser All-In-One Range

Today, apparently, is national printer day. Not wanting to be outdone, Ricoh has announced five new all-in-one printers for larger workgroups. The latest announcement is designed to extend the reach of Ricoh's present range to provide black-and-white output speeds of between 24 to 45 pages-per-minute as well as a colour output range from 10 to 35 pages-per-minute.

The new all-in-ones all come with a relatively wide range of features as standard, including security capabilities, which have previously been unavailable to small workgroups. Using an existing Windows network log-in infrastructure, businesses can prevent both unauthorised machine use and restrict colour usage. In addition, organisations can avoid information leaks by encrypting all data communication to and from an all-in-one or by installing Ricoh's Data Overwrite Security software to erase any data left on the device's hard disk drive overnight.

The range comprises the Aficio 3224 (£9395 ex. VAT), Aficio 3232 (£10995 ex. VAT), Aficio 3228 (£11895 ex. VAT), Aficio 3235 (£13995 ex. VAT), and Aficio 3245 (£15995 ex. VAT). As with all Ricoh devices, the devices have been developed with the environment in mind. In addition to boasting the Energy Star logo for energy efficiency, they all use polyester x polymerisation toner which requires less energy to produce particles than its conventional counterparts, significantly reducing the device's carbon emissions, according to the company.

'Traditionally, access to colour on MFPs has been limited to a handful of devices providing little choice or flexibility, especially for smaller businesses,' commented product manager, Eddie Hall. 'Previously, many companies had to opt for the expensive alternative of outsourcing their colour requirements, often ordering larger batches than necessary 'just in case' extra copies were needed in the future. The ability to create these documents in-house now means that businesses can print on-demand, keep costs lower and reduce the amount of space taken up by surplus documentation.'
