American Power Conversion’s (APC) latest line of High Density Smart-UPSs (Uninterruptible Power Supply) deliver more power in a smaller footprint. Launched this week, the Smart-UPS RT family of rack/tower convertible, double conversion on-line UPSs are designed to provide power protection for business equipment such as computer networks, telecommunications and industrial applications.

Ranging from 1,000 to 10,000VA (volt ampere), the new Smart-UPS RT units provide a high power density for a small footprint. For example, the 5,000VA model requires 3U (1U = 1.75in.) of rack space when mounted in a 19in. rack, and the 10,000VA unit requires 6U of rack space.

All of the Smart-UPS RT models offer automatic and manual bypass, various input voltage ranges without using batteries (100V to 280V at typical loads), tight voltage and frequency regulation, and emergency power off integration. The internal batteries in each model are hot swappable. Smart-UPS RT products from 5,000VA to 10,000VA ship with an embedded Web/SNMP management card.
