Logitech Ships Encrypted Wireless Keyboard & Mouse

Logitech has today announced that it is bringing true cordlessness to the office space for the first time. The new Office Cordless Desktop kit uses 2.4GHz and proprietary encryption technologies to help ensure a secure and virtually interference-free experience for multiple users.

The clutter of many office spaces presents a strong argument for the use of cordless peripherals. However, to date, widespread adoption has been hindered by the potential for interference - one person's mouse might move the cursor on a colleague's screen because of the proximity of their desks, or their keyboards might jam.

The Office Cordless Desktop's 2.4GHz technology should help to eliminate these problems, meaning 50 people could each be using their own desktop within a 10x10m space and still experience no interference. Security comes in the form of 128-bit encryption.

'In the Office Cordless Desktop, Logitech has brought together the reliability, simplicity and low-maintenance costs that so many IT managers seek in personal peripherals, with the most advanced 2.4GHz wireless technology and secure encryption,' said Huib Ponssen, director of product marketing for Logitech business products. 'Logitech's expertise in this area means the Logitech Office Cordless Desktop has to be the best possible desktop cordless office solution.'

The desktop is specially designed with IT managers and business users in mind, with emphasis on reliability and simplicity. The mouse and keyboard are pre-connected to allow users to plug them in and get going without installing software. The keyboard is designed to be spill-resistant and the mouse has a battery indicator and 'On/Off' switch, so battery life can be both maximised and monitored.
