Smart Human Logistics Updates Workforce Management Solution

Smart Human Logistics' latest product, eHL 2005, is designed to allow companies to optimise areas of their organisation to gain a competitive advantage by maximising on the ROI from their workforce. Developed using Microsoft's .Net technology, eHL 2005 gives employers tools designed to maximise on employee value, through new improvements in proactive reporting, employee self-service and costing.

New functionality includes improvements to the scheduling system, which should deliver high level workforce alerts direct to the desks of directors and managers. The proactive Director Alerts can also be configured to highlight specific risks or issues before they have occurred - by department, groups or across the entire organisation.

The alerts are delivered via e-mail and will include real-time reports on areas such as productivity, absence and costing. Although the reports themselves are often only one line, the content promises to be accurate and powerful in terms of aiding business decisions and minimising risks.

Equally important is the new costing module within eHL 2005. The new functionality will allow attendance data to be costed and forecast at any point before payroll is run. With payroll costs changing on a daily basis, the ability to be able to analyse the data at any time, should help to ensure workforce costs are tightly controlled and any errors are detected early.

eHL 2005 also includes direct benefits for staff through enhancements to self service functionality. One of the key areas for improvements focuses on shift swapping, which allows employees to both request shift swaps and receive authorisation via the system, without supervisors or manager involved in the decision. The rules-based solution empowers employees to manage their own work hours, reducing administration and freeing up more time for managers to focus on more critical and strategic tasks.

Mohammed Bashir, from Exel Logistics, a current user of Smart's eHL solution believes that eHl 2005 is good news for businesses: 'eHL 2005 is a unique product offering which I'm confident will enable organisations to see a marked difference in the effective management of its people.

'Not only will employees have greater control through the added self-service functionality, but management at all levels across the whole organisation will have the intelligent data they need on workforce operations to make informed decisions and gain greater control over everything from workforce costs to absence - a solution that must surely be an advantage for today's competitive businesses'.
