Elonex has announced the launch of its second generation Lumina Digital Home LCD PC.
Featuring the latest Intel Viiv technology, the Lumina 3 is available in two decent sizes (32- and 40-inches) for a compelling multimedia and video experience. First shown at 2006 International CES in Las Vegas, the Lumina 3 is now on sale elusively at Elonex.
The new Lumina 3 from Elonex incorporates every function of a modern Windows Media Center Digital Home PC, with TV, DVD, CD, Wireless networking and Internet technology all integrated into an LCD panel. However, theres no built-in Bluetooth or any memory card readers.
Fully compliant with Intel Viiv Technology, and including the latest version of Microsofts Windows XP Media Center Edition (MCE) 2005 Edition, the Lumina 3 also supports dual-core processing, digital storage and wireless networking to offer a truly home-friendly, easy-to-use media hub and entertainment centre.
Intel Viiv technology works together with a variety of Intel-verified consumer electronics devices, online services and software - including movies, music, photos and games. Intel Viiv (rhymes with five) technology is designed to help usher in a new era of entertainment choices for consumers. The Lumina 3 is based on Intel Viiv technology and can be used with the supplied remote control.
Extra features built-in to the Lumina 3 mean that it is Digital Home Automation compliant, as well a unique USB device bay that offers the option of a pocket-size removable hard disk module for storing and transferring the users digital content. The introduction of a 40-inch screen version of the Lumina widens the appeal of the luxury device to a broader market of sophisticated users.
In terms of specifications, both screens offer a resolution of 1366x768 pixels, 15ms response time, super-bright 1000:1 contrast ratio and 450cd/m2 brightness rating. Under the hood you get an Intel Core Duo processor running on an Intel 945GM chipset, 1GB of 533MHz DDR2 SDRAM and an nVidia GeForce 6600 LE graphics card with 256MB of VRAM. Theres also a digital TV tuner and slot-loading DVD+/-RW drive.
The 32-inch model costs £2599 and the 40-inch unit is £3299, a snip compared to Alienware's latest
offering.
