NEC Dual-Core i-Select D6610

Looking for a dual-core desktop system on a budget? NEC Computers may just have the ticket.

Available from just £399, the i-Select D6610 integrates the latest generation of Intel i945G chipset and the new Intel Pentium D dual-core processors. You will also benefit from a stable platform following the launch of a number of applications that take advantage of dual-core technology.

Equipped with DDR2 dual-channel memory, the NEC i-Select D6610 should handle multiple applications effortlessly. It features a Serial ATA II controller (up to 300MB/s) with SATA hard disks of 200- or 400GB and an integrated RAID controller which enables an increase in performance thanks to the writing and reading of data on two disks simultaneously (RAID 0), as well as the assurance of maximum security thanks to data mirroring, invaluable for users in the event of disk failure (RAID 1).

The i-Select D6610 also demonstrates decent display ability. It introduces the new generation of ATI video cards, including the Radeon X1600XT. This video card offers an excellent performance/price ratio and distinguishes itself by being able to manage the most complex 3D graphic applications.

Other core components include 1GB of DDR2 533MHz SDRAM, two 200GB (7200rpm) HDDs, dual-format DVD burner, integrated 5.1 audio controller, and 21-in-1 memory card reader.

In term of connectivity, NEC’s i-Select D6610 is equipped with no less than six USB 2.0 slots (four at rear and two at front), the usual array of legacy ports, and Gigabit LAN as standard. The system is supplied as standard with Microsoft’s Windows XP Home Edition operating system.
