Roll-Up Fabric Bluetooth Keyboard

Eleksen Group, the inventor and manufacturer of ElekTex smart fabric touchpads for consumer electronics, has announced that they are offering their innovative wireless fabric keyboard through certified resellers and directly to large enterprises who have implemented mobile working solutions using smartphone platforms.

The keyboard is a laptop-sized QWERTY accessory that delivers all the capabilities of the office keyboard to corporate ‘road warriors’ and busy executives in an ultra-portable and compact package. It is compatible with most popular devices from BlackBerry, Nokia, Palm and Microsoft.

The keyboard allegedly increases productivity for mobile workers by complementing existing smartphone devices, which rely on small thumbpads for data entry. Thumbpads are excellent for quick messaging, but can be awkward for more elaborate tasks and applications. As such, enterprises may not be getting optimal productivity returns on their investment in these devices.

In addition, the keyboard opens up new possibilities for corporate IT departments to roll out further sophisticated applications to their mobile workers and further enhance their productivity.

In a study for Palm’s Treo conducted by Frost and Sullivan, median downtime recovered for workers using the Treo smartphone was estimated to be 41 minutes per day, equating to $8572 per year. In a 1000-user enterprise the average productivity gains associated with using the Palm Treo amount to over $8 million per year. The Eleksen keyboard aims to stretch these productivity gains even further.

“With the Eleksen keyboard, companies can realistically expect productivity to be doubled,” said Michael Averbach, co-founder of DynoPlex, a leading developer of wireless document management solutions. “We chose to bundle our document editing solutions with the keyboard, aiming to extend capabilities typically found in the PC environment to the mobile worker.”

Designed around Eleksen’s ElekTex smart fabric touchpad technology the keyboard’s lightweight (65g) and compact design means it fits easily into a pocket or the smallest briefcase for maximum portability. With no mechanical parts and with a wipe-clean finish it’s extremely durable and won’t get damaged by coffee spillages or cake crumbs.

Andrew Newman, Product Manager for the keyboard explains: “Smartphones and mobile applications are a real growth area for enterprises who want their employees out with their customers as much as they can be. The keyboard works for either sophisticated smartphone users or novices because it combines the familiar functionality and layout one expects in a traditional keyboard with a greater degree of portability to ensure it can be used in any location.”

The Wireless Smartphone Keyboard is available now and will be sold direct from Eleksen to corporates and through certified resellers. The keyboard is available to corporate customers at prices from £40 per unit with quantity discounts available. Minimum order quantities apply.
