Eurolink selects MapInfo for maintenance and management of new toll motorway in Ireland |
|
MapInfo Corporation (Nasdaq: MAPS), the leading global provider of location intelligence solutions, today announced that the MapInfo Confirm(r) infrastructure management solution, has been selected by Eurolink, a leading European construction consortium to manage the M4/M6 Kilcock to Kinnegad motorway, the first PPP highways project in Ireland.
The construction, operation and maintenance of the 27 year PPP contract was undertaken by Eurolink at a cost of several hundred million euros. The development comprises a state-of-the-art highway covering 36km of motorway, 4km of standard duel carriageway, 17km of side roads, six junctions and 36 significant structures (underpasses, over-bridges, river culverts etc).
"MapInfo Confirm has given us a 'best of class' management and maintenance solution for this critical first PPP contract with the NRA," says Dave Schuller, Maintenance Manager, Eurolink. "Confirm underpins our agreement with the NRA to provide true operational transparency, accommodating efficient remote access by the Authority whilst providing for effective maintenance budgeting and ensuring our service delivery to road users."
Opened 10 months ahead of schedule, the new M4/M6 Kilcock to Kinnegad toll road is already exceeding usage expectations, relieving congestion east of Dublin and providing unprecedented customer service.
"Confirm has accommodated our vision for unparalleled customer service," continues Schuller. "Beyond road cleaning and lighting we deliver fast vehicle support through a 24/7 quick response patrol, free breakdown service and even complimentary fuel and towing. The public reaction to this level of service has been astonishing."
"We were delighted to be selected by Eurolink for this pioneering project," says Tony McNeillis, Sales Director, Business Applications, MapInfo Limited. "Although well established with the UK Highways Agency, it is our first deployment of Confirm in Ireland and sets an extremely high standard in terms of maximizing the integration of road management and maintenance whilst providing an onus on customer service."
The agreement between Eurolink and MapInfo extends beyond the M4/M6 toll road with plans underway for the partnership to continue across all upcoming 'Design, Build, Fund and Operator' (DBFO) construction projects in Ireland, commencing with the new M3 motorway, which is due to start construction in spring 2007.
End.
