QLIKVIEW TURNS WD-40 INTO A SLICK OPERATION |
|
QlikTech, the worlds fastest growing Business Intelligence software company, is making a greater than expected impact on business operations at one of the worlds best known companies. Leading international brand, WD-40, needed a system to replace its reliance on the production of hard copy weekly ERP reports and ease increasing pressure on the IT department to provide sales information in a user friendly, real time application. Following the implementation of QlikTechs groundbreaking QlikView business analysis tool across its European operations, the company is now seeing man hours dramatically reduced and invaluable company information revealed in a way never thought possible.
Before investing in QlikView, WD-40 had to calculate customer sales totals manually at the end of each year by totaling up historical hard copy reports; now sales totals are available immediately with a single click. Hard copy reports containing outdated information have become a thing of the past; users simply open up QlikView, make their data selection and analyse the information they need.
"We have found ourselves in the position where we can now analyse over 500,000 order lines in seconds, on demand, explains Julian Spencer, WD-40s Finance and Operations Director Europe. On the sales side we use QlikView to find selling opportunities with existing customers as well as to highlight customers who are ordering less frequently than before. On the control side we can track margins and customers' rebates and do this with several mouse clicks in minutes whereas before it took hours of manual data collation. QlikView is a great way to get at company data quickly and easily. With traditional ERP systems you have many screens to go through to get to data. With QlikView the data is available instantly with just a few mouse clicks."
QlikView has also enabled the company to investigate profit margins in far greater detail by drilling down to product information and highlighting customers who havent placed recent orders. The finance and logistics departments too are now able to look at orders, margins and stock in a way that wasnt possible before.
Implementing QlikView couldnt have been easier, comments IT manager, Jonathan McCoy. It took less than two weeks to create our sales analysis application and its as easy to use as Excel, requiring no training whatsoever. The system consistently gives us new ideas on how we can make maximum use of its capabilities. When users want a new report or additional data, they know its going to be possible. When youre running an IT department, its great to know that you will be able to give users what they want with a minimum of effort.
WD-40s maintenance contract with QlikTech means that the company automatically receives the latest upgrades. Version 7 and the web server will extend QlikViews availability to all remaining users, including those working remotely. The company is now planning to expand QlikView into other areas of the business.
WD-40 is yet another leading international brand realising the power of QlikViews simple design, concludes Andy Honess, managing director of QlikTech UK. By providing precisely the right level the information, when its needed, QlikView is helping users improve their own performance, as well as that of the company.
