Symantec is looking to strengthen its position in the home desktop market with the announcement of Norton SystemWorks 2006 Basic, the newest product in Nortons SystemWorks family of PC health solutions.
Norton SystemWorks 2006 Basic provides home users with tools to maintain and optimise their computer, solve common problems, and help boost system performance.
Joining Norton SystemWorks 2006 and Norton SystemWorks 2006 Premier, Norton SystemWorks 2006 Basic provides Norton Utilities tools that are designed to help optimise and fix hard disk drives, and includes a One Button Checkup - a customisable feature that scans for problems, reports on issues found and allows you to choose whether or not they want to fix the problem in just one click.
Norton SystemWorks 2006 Basic also includes Norton GoBack, Symantecs data protection and recovery solution, which provides out-of-the-box continuous rollback. Norton GoBack keeps systems safe from damage caused by problematic installations, faulty software and potentially unwanted programs such as spyware and adware.
Keeping your PC clean is left to Norton Cleanup. You can remove Internet clutter, your most recently used files, media file logs and temporary files, helping to improve your systems efficiency and protect your privacy.
Another neat tool in Norton SystemWorks 2006 Basic Edition is Process Viewer 2.0, which identifies processes running at a specific point in time, allowing you to identify impacts to overall performance.
Norton SystemWorks 2006 Basic also includes System Optimizer 2.0, which allows you to turn on and off almost any Windows XP shortcut, customising the Windows environment to accommodate your needs.
Norton SystemWorks 2006 Basic is available through the Symantec online store. The product is also available at retail locations and online retailers. The recommended pricing for the UK edition of Norton SystemWorks 2006 Basic Edition is £29.99.
