BenQ has today announced two new additions to its DVD ReWriters range. Both the DW1650 and the DW1655 feature dual cooling system, BenQs proprietary SolidBurn technology and BenQs exclusive Write Right technology. The DW1655 also features Direct Disc Labelling capability.
Both models are available now. The DW1650 costs £24.99 and the DW1655 costs £49.99. The first shipment of DW1655s include five free LightScribe CDR media discs.
The DW1655 is an upgrade to the DW1625. A quick look at the drive's specifications, will reveal that the main upgrades from the previous release are 16x for DVD-R up from 8x, 8x up from 4x for +RW, 6x from 4x for -RW, 8x from 2.4x for DVD +R DL, while now also supporting DVD-R DL at 4x.
Each model burns DVD+Rs and DVD-Rs at a maximum speed of 16x. Dual-Layer discs can be burnt at a maximum speed of 8x (DVD+R) and 6x (DVD-R). The DW1650 and DW1655 are equipped with the Dual Cooling system, BenQs SolidBurn technology and BenQs exclusive Write Right Technology.
All these technologies promise the best possible quality of the final disc and prevent all kind of problems while burning. The BenQ DW1655 gives you another big benefit, LightScribe, eliminating the need for stickers and markers.
The Dual Cooling system in both drives limits the risk of heat problems while burning or reading DVDs at high speeds, which the company says results in a higher quality disc as an end result.
BenQs exclusive Write Right technology takes perfect control over both the angle as the power of the laserbeam that actually burns the data on the disc during the process which should provide you with a better end result disc.
BenQs SolidBurn technology provides a better end result and (this is where the fun part starts) enables over-speed burning possibilities. If the disc is supported you can now burn your 4x or 8x DVD+R/-R discs at 8x or higher. We want you to be able to be in full control of your drive so you can easily turn down the SolidBurn technology and over-speed burning or turn it back on again, whatever you prefer. This can be done through the software that comes with the drive.
